As the Superintendent of the Hartland/Lakeside school district, I am proud of the diverse and enriching learning opportunities we offer our students. Our rigorous curriculum strives to ensure that every child is a successful reader and writer at an early age, and that math skills encompass critical and creative thinking. We understand that strong preparedness in academics is vital to student success beyond high school. Yet, we also know that in addition to strong academic skills other components that address the whole child are necessary for students to meet the demands of a global economy.

At Hartland/Lakeside we offer a variety of enriching and encompassing learning experiences that include the arts, high-level technology, choices that address learning styles, athletics, personalized learning, and extended offerings and electives at our middle school, such as STEM, finance, theatre, TV production, choir, honors choir, musical theatre, cooking across cultures, debate, art, band, and jazz band. We continually seek ways to capture student motivation by taping into their interests. In addition to studies and curricular goals, we believe that a school district must provide a culture of community where every child is valued and included.

Hartland/Lakeside knows that a creative environment can be a motivating factor of student learning. Our instructional choices include charter schools, digital classrooms, and comprehensive classrooms that encompass environmental education, and innovative design.

The quality of our curriculum and enriched learning experiences can only be successful if there are quality teachers. Hartland/Lakeside places a high value in hiring and retaining the best teachers. Our teachers and teacher leaders drive the essence of our mission and vision toward continual improvement. We provide our staff with ongoing professional development so that they can meet the demands and changes facing our educational institution. The importance of targeted and consistent professional growth has been a hallmark of our district, with noted results in our math and literacy curriculum. A high school math teacher, from Arrowhead High School, serves on our staff and works daily with our 7th and 8th grade students, providing high school credit for advanced learners.

In addition to having a highly dedicated professional staff, we are able to provide a comprehensive educational experience for students beyond the core curriculum. We take pride in building community within our schools and having our students involved in community service. Students in Hartland/Lakeside helped build a sister school in Haiti for orphans, advocated to rebuild a chimney for migrating birds, raised funds to build shelters at the Nixon Park Splash Pad, and donated thousands of dollars to charities, food pantries, and animal shelters.

We are fortunate and appreciative to have the support of our parents and the greater community. Hartland/Lakeside school district has made connections with the Village of Hartland, Kiwanis, Lake Country Hartland Rotary, and the Chamber of Commerce. We extend our sincere thanks to our community that supports our quality school district.
